Montenegro hosts 1st SC Farense Walking Football Cup Tournament

Next Sunday, July 24th, promoted by Sporting Clube Farense, at the Clube Desportivo do Montenegro Football Field, between 9 am and 1 pm, the 1st SC Farense Walking Football Cup Tournament will take place.

The modality that emerged recently and is growing all over the world, began to be more practiced by people over 50 and over 60 years old, and aims to provide an escape route to a sedentary lifestyle, promote active aging, fight and prevent illness, and/or promoting a social life free from loneliness, among other benefits.

The 1st SC Farense Walking Football Cup Tournament, which has the support of the Algarve Football Association (AFA), which supports the practice of the new modality, has the participation of teams from SC Farense, CD Odiáxere and East Algarve.

Particularity in Walking Football is that, “Running or sprinting with or without the ball is not allowed by any player (including goalkeepers) and usually results in the awarding of an indirect free hit. If, in the opinion of the referee, such conduct results in a clear goal-scoring opportunity being denied, then the offending players must be removed from the game for 2 minutes (blue card) and a penalty kick considered if the offending player is a goalkeeper.” one of the existing rules in the practice of this modality, which, in their entirety, can be consulted clicking here.
