VIVA Sport – It took some time for Mick Schumacher to finally collect the first points of his career in Formula 1 after finishing eighth in the F1 British GP on Sunday 3 July 2022.

This success at least relieves the growing pressure that is being carried by the son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

Trying to follow in the footsteps of his father, one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time, had opened the door for a young Schumacher, but the Haas driver’s sky-high hopes were becoming increasingly difficult to fulfill.

While his father only needed two races to score his first points in the 1991 Italian GP F1 while driving for Benetton, Mick made it on the 31st attempt. But his achievements were appreciated by other drivers, including world championship leader Max Verstappen.

“It’s great to be able to score points with a two-point finish in the sense that we have now leapfrogged Aston Martin in the constructors’ standings which is great, something we have been aiming for for a while,” said Schumacher.

“Now we are just trying little by little to get more points than the others.”
