Maple Leafs extend Pierre Engvall’s contract for one season

TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs have extended forward Pierre Engvall’s contract for one season.

The Swede will pocket US$2.25 million.

The 26-year-old Engvall had 15 goals and 35 points in 78 games with the Maple Leafs last season. He added three assists in seven playoff games.

In 168 career NHL games, all with the Maple Leafs, Engvall has 30 goals and 62 points. He also had four assists in 17 playoff games.

Engvall spent three seasons with the Toronto Marlies, from 2017 to 2020, before graduating to the NHL. He won the Calder Cup in 2018.

Engvall was selected 188th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2014 draft.
