Latvian professional martial arts team TM Fighting with an entry on the website Facebook has announced that it is terminating cooperation with boxer Mairi Briedi, who has not condemned the war started by Russia in Ukraine.
“Due to our unacceptable position on the invasion of Ukraine by the occupiers, no TM Fighting Team lines, Mairis Briedis is excluded. As a patriotic organization, we want to distance ourselves from people who visibly show support for Russian aggression. Such people have no place in a team whose basic principles are patriotism and loyalty to one’s country,” it was said TM Fighting in the announcement.
As reported, Briedis has so far not expressed a clear position on the war started by Russia and the crimes committed by the occupiers in Ukraine. He condemned the war, but said that he “doesn’t take sides”.
