Los Angeles 2028 dispenses with boxing, weightlifting and the pentathlon

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are taking shape. The initial sports program of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will be made up of a total of 28 sports, including skateboardingsport climbing and surfing.

However, for the moment, it will not have the presence of sports such as boxing, weightlifting and pentathlon. These questions have been approved during the celebration of the session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Beijing.

The body insists that sports that will be present at future Olympic Games such as skateboardingsport climbing and surfing, are focused on reaching young people after successful debut at Tokyo 2020. Also, these sports have some of their roots in California.

Likewise, the list of the 28 sports that will be played in Los Angeles will be completed with athletics, badminton, handball, basketball, cycling, fencing, soccer, golf, gymnastics, horse riding, hockey, judo, wrestling, swimming, rowing, rugby, canoeing , taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, shooting, archery, triathlon, sailing, volleyball, surfing, skateboarding and climbing.

Boxing, weightlifting and the pentathlon could be added to the list of sports if meet the requirements required by the IOC for their continuity in Los Angeles 2028. Therefore, the federations of these sports will be able to effectively implement the necessary reforms to have a presence at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Also, the organizing committee could propose new sports that must be ratified in 2023along with the list of events for each sport including a reduction in the cost and complexity of the Games.
