Lillard agrees to two-year contract extension with Portland Trail Blazers

US broadcaster ESPN and The Athletic reported on Friday the terms of the proposed deal over the weekend, with the 31-year-old defender earning $137 million (€134.5 million) over the next three seasons before a contract extension.

On the other hand, the extension of the contract to 2025/2026. and the 2026/27 season will bring Lillard another 122 million dollars (120 million euros).

Lillard, who has spent his entire 10-year NBA career with the Trail Blazers, averaged 24 points, 7.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and one steal for Portland last season, but played only 29 games since undergoing surgery in January to address a lingering abdominal injury.

Last season, the Trail Blazers finished 27-55, the first time since 2013, when Lillard became the NBA Rookie of the Year, without making the playoffs.

During Lillard’s time in Portland, the team went the furthest in the playoffs in the spring of 2019, entering the Western Conference finals and losing to the Golden State Warriors.

A six-time NBA All-Star, Lillard was a member of the U.S. Olympic team last year in Tokyo, winning a gold medal.
