SINGAPORE – Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin won the first match or round of 32 at the Singapore Open 2022. They overthrew the representatives of Malaysia, Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong 21-18 and 21-14 in 30 minutes.

Indonesian men’s doubles have the right to advance to the last 16 of the Super 500 tournament. Next they will clash with the winner of the duel Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang (China) with Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel (Germany).

Competing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Tuesday (12/7/2022) afternoon, Leo/Daniel had faced fierce resistance from Kian Meng/Wee Kiong since the beginning of the match. Tight scores continued to occur until stepping on the number 7-7.

Both pairs continued to trade attacks in a fast tempo. Unfortunately, Leo/Daniel trailed 9-11 at the interval of the first game even though they had previously led 9-8.

After the break, the Red-White pair still haven’t found their best game. It made the neighboring country duo get point by point without difficulty and move away with a 16-11 advantage.

However, Leo/Daniel didn’t just give up. They tried to push Kian Meng/Wee Kiong back by changing the pattern of the game.

The results are very positive. The pair ranked 23 in the world could equalize to 16-16 and turned 18-16 ahead.

In fact, their pursuit ended sweetly as they managed to secure victory in the first game with a score of 21-18.

Entering the second game, the match was tight again. Even though they had a 3-3 draw, in the end Leo/Daniel could move away with a 7-3 advantage.
