Lasmanis returns to the “Big3” league with a victory and 14 points

“Aliens” defeated “Bivouac” at home with 51:48 (25:19).

Lasmanis added four rebounds, three assists and one steal to his 14 points.

Deshaun Stevens was the top scorer for the winners with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Dušan Bulut had 12 points, five steals and six assists, while Tomislav Ivošev had eight points and nine rebounds.

Corey Brewer scored 19 points for the opponents, Gerald Green scored 17, and both also collected five rebounds each. Jeff Ears, on the other hand, added 12 points and ten rebounds.

“Aliens” shares the second to sixth place with two wins in three games, while “Bivouac” takes the last place in the 12-team competition with three losses.

In the “Big3” league, 50 points and a lead of at least two points are required for victory. The game time is unlimited, but one attack has 14 seconds. Another of the most significant differences from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) tournaments is that in the “Big3” league there is not only a three-point shot, but also a four-point shot.

Immediately after the first game in the league, Lasmanis went to the airport to join the Latvian national 3×3 basketball team in the World Cup, where the team reached the quarterfinals in the Belgian city of Antwerp, losing to Serbia.

After the World Cup, Lasmanis returned to the “Aliens” team and will participate in the next “Big 3” season competitions, which will take place every weekend until the beginning of August, when the finals are scheduled.

The coach of the “Aliens” is Rick Mahorn, who together with the Detroit “Pistons” won the championship title of the National Basketball Association in 1989. In addition to Lasmans, “Aliens” includes two Serbs, team captain Dušan Bulut and Tomislav Ivošev, as well as two Americans, Deshon Stevens and Edam Drexler.

The Bivouac team is led by Gary Payton, who includes Corey Brewer, Jeff Ears, Will Bynum, Gerlon Green and 2007 NBA All-Star basket winner Gerald Green.
