La Jornada – Celestes tie with the red and black team and still do not win at home

The win at home continues to be denied to Cruz Azul and they added a second goalless draw this time against Atlas. The light-blue also missed the chance to fight for the lead by momentarily staying in third place with seven units, while the red and black have two less after four days in the Apertura 2022 of the Liga Mx Femenil.

Cruz Azul’s attack was more adept at reaching the rival area at the start of the match played at La Noria, although from the first attempts there were deficiencies to be finalized.

The first warning from the locals was when Ana García overflowed down the left flank and fired a deflected shot. However, it was difficult for the locals to maintain control and the duel became rough.

With an offense led by Norma Palafox and Claudia Ibarra, Atlas looked for options in the offense, but could not go beyond three quarters of the field due to a successful reaction from the light blue defense. Only Karen García tested goalkeeper Gabriela Machuca with a free kick that was saved.

La Maquina regained strength in the attack, however his errors in long passes and a late reaction on the part of the battering rams prevented him from scoring the goal. Ana García was the most unbalanced player of the locals and she put pressure on with a deflected shot from the left wing.

On the bench, the technical director of Atlas, Fabiola Vargas, was concerned about the performance of her players and issued orders.

With the duel locked, it was until shortly before the break when the Tapatias reached the rival area and Norma Palafox sent a shot from the left side, although Machuca deflected the shot.

Tania Morales, who returned to La Noria, but now as a rival to her former team, tried to surprise at the start of the complement with a long-range shot that passed inches from Cruz Azul’s goal.

The inconsistency in the attack caused Roberto Pérez, helmsman of La Maquina, to move his pieces and entered Ana Huerta and Diana García for Natalia Enciso and Dalia Molina, who had a gray performance. Atlas also refreshed his scheme and took Tania Molina and Fabiola Ibarra off the field.

With the changes, Atlas had more dynamism in the attack and took risks with a couple of shots, but his players were not fine in the definition either. Thus, the red and black continue without winning visitors.

The meeting, which was lived without controversy, was directed by Katia Itzel García, who just on Tuesday became the fourth woman to referee in Mexican men’s soccer when debuting in the Liga Expansión Mx.

At the end, Fabiola Vargas indicated that “we deserved more, but a visiting point is redeemable, although we seek to add three.” The coach pointed out that having been left out of the World Cup and the Olympic Games “leaves us with a taste of sadness, we can aspire to more, although we must understand that other countries have also grown.”

Roberto Pérez considered that the result “was fair, because the duel was even”. However, he acknowledged that the flaws in the definition were key: “we were not precise.”
