Kontaveita’s former coach from Russia has attracted Radukana – Tennis – Sportacentrs.com

Russian specialist Tursunov has already started working with Emma Radukana, the tenth ranked player in the tennis world. It is planned that their first joint tournament will be 1.-7. August Washington “WTA 250”. The coach and the tennis player are at the venue of this competition. If the cooperation goes well, Tursunov will remain as coach of the Radukans in the upcoming North American tournament series.

Emma Radukanu recently stood out with a change of coaches. Nigel Sears trained from the end of April 2021. Andrew Richardson started working in July and stayed until almost the end of September. Jeremy Bates was the coach for a while. In November, Torben Belz took over and worked for five months. After that, the temporary coaching model offered by the British Tennis Association was used, including Jan Bates, the head of women’s tennis of the mentioned organization, as the coach in late April and early May 2022.

In November of last year, Tursunov (for the metaratings.ru portal) said about Radukana’s coaching changes: “There is such a concept of a ‘carousel of coaches’, when coaches go around in circles. Emma Radukana, who won the US Open, is now firing the people she worked with. It’s natural that everyone’s in shock. If someone on her team called me now and asked if I wanted to coach her, I’d be shaking with fear because you don’t know when you’re going to be fired.”

Dmitry Tursunov coached the current vice-leader of the world ranking, Aneti Kontaveita (Estonia), but the cooperation was terminated due to problems with the coach’s visas.

As already reported, the large-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia and supported by Belarus led to the imposition of sanctions, including restrictions on the travel of citizens of the aggressor countries. The leading world tennis organizations WTA and ATP have set relatively small restrictions for Russian and Belarusian tennis players (may compete as neutral athletes).

It is interesting that Radukana’s former coach Torben Belz (Germany) is now training Aneta Kontaveita, whose previous trainer Dmitriy Tursunov, in turn, is starting cooperation with Radukana.

In 2022, Radukani’s balance is negative (9-12), while last year it was positive (25-9).

The “US Open” tennis championship will take place from August 29 to September 11.
