• Bernarda Per, the current 81st racket of the world, who triumphed in the Budapest tournament last week, defeated the Ukrainian Marina Zanevska (#72) representing Belgium 6:2 and 6:4 in today’s semifinals. The winner of the Hamburg semi-final has an impressive streak – 22 sets won in a row.

• In the second semifinal in Hamburg, Estonian Anete Kontaveita (#2) defeated Russian Anastasia Potapova (#63) 6:3 and 7:5. The best tennis player in the Baltics was much superior in scoring points after the second serve and executed break points more effectively.

• Kontaveita initially did not plan to participate in this tournament and, together with our Alon Ostapenko, positioned herself as the tennis players who have the longest break after the Wimbledon championship. In the end, the Estonian still decided to compete – she accepted the “Wild Card” and was ranked number one in the tournament scheduled in the German metropolis.

• As already reported, Ostapenko’s next singles tournament will be the star-studded WTA 1000 in Toronto.
