Kahn explains why Bayern Lewandowski is now selling: “Sign of weakness”

Robert Lewandowski has been on a collision course with each other in recent months, but in the end the transfer of the Polish striker to Barcelona has been completed.

At the end of the season, Lewandowski already mentioned that he would leave Bayern Munich. A transfer to Barcelona seemed in the making, but they did not see that in Bavaria. The Polish striker has scored goals in the Bundesliga in recent years and conquered several records.

But he didn’t like that he couldn’t leave. As a result, he repeatedly spoke negatively about Bayern in press conferences and eventually the club gave in. Oliver Kahn, former top goalkeeper at Bayern Munich and now CEO of the club, explains BILD why the transfer is still going ahead. “With Mane we have now attracted a global player. And holding on to something through stubbornness or one’s own ego is more a sign of weakness. That would not have been the best for the club, the team and the fans,” admits Kahn.
