Judoka Florent Gaudy returns to the Saint-Pierrais tatami for the holidays

Since his debut as a junior at the Saint-Pierre judo club, Florent Gaudy has made his way to high-level judo. The judoka is passing through the archipelago for a few days, the time to return to a course of excellence.

No deck chair on judoka Florent Gaudy’s vacation program, but the tatami of the Butokuden Dojo. The former member of the Saint-Pierre club is taking advantage of a homecoming to get back in the saddle before the European military championships.

This training is mainly to keep the sensations and touch a little kimono, just to not arrive at the competition empty-handed. It’s true that it feels good knowing that it’s been a while now that I haven’t trained.

High level training

Requirement and passion have enabled the sportsman to rise to the rank of vice-champion of France in judo in the 2nd division in the category of less than 100 kg and in 5th position in the French Junior Championship. On the program of his stay in Saint-Pierrais, one session per day combined with preparation in the weight room. The opportunity for his former comrades to renew the black belt for some high-level catches, facing their champion.

It’s a short but intense workout. We try to give the best we can, but it’s not easy. It teaches us a lot about the high level […]. On the other hand, what we appreciate is that he is still benevolent with us.

From the tatami to the fire station

Always in search of thrills, the 25-year-old has now swapped his kimono for the uniform of a Paris firefighter. An intense profession which also requires him to keep an excellent physical condition.

Rescuing and helping the Parisian population is a lot of sport, a lot of adrenaline. We come for everything that is intensive. It seems to be useful.
