Itas Mutua Rovigo tames the “panthers” and keeps the top

ROVIGO – The Itas Mutua Baseball Softball Club Rovigo remains at the top of Group E1 of the Poule Salvation. In the double confrontation played on Sunday against the New Black Panthers of Ronchi dei Legionari, the rossoblù hit the minimum target with a draw that feeds the hopes of closing the phase in first place and, consequently, having better pairings in the next Italian Cup. A high-voltage confrontation, with the first two in the standings called to play for the primacy: after having surrendered 5-3 in race one, the Polesans made up for it in the second challenge of the day, winning 6-5.

Both games were affected by injuries on the mound. In race one Itas Mutua Rovigo had to deal with an arm problem for Crepaldi, who was forced to finish his test prematurely. The new rotation plan, with the reliefs first by Pietrogrande and then by De Marchi, did not prevent the guests from taking advantage of it and so, after the perfect balance of the first innings, the “panthers” found three points in the seventh inning which complicated the final of the rossoblù. In eighth Pizzoli’s home base race rekindled hope, but Rovigo’s comeback stopped here.

In race two fate balanced the bill and it was the Friulians who paid dearly for an injury to the starting pitcher. The rossoblù attack did not discount and began to grind points, reaching 5-0 already in the third inning. Strong of the advantage, the boys of coach Soto Diaz perhaps made the mistake of already feeling the success in their pockets, thus exposing themselves to the return of the opponents. That was not long in coming. Three points from Ronchi in the fourth inning reopened the challenge, then another two winning races in the seventh put the chills on Itas Mutua Rovigo, who fortunately immediately found the point of victory with Nosti. Well on the mound Javier Diaz, Muzzarelli and Giacomo Taschin.

The tie between Cervignano and Poviglio also smiles at the inhabitants of Rovigo. The distances between the top of the class remain in fact unchanged, with Senago, victorious over Brescia, who climbs up to the momentary fourth place. With the direct clash with Ronchi dei Legionari filed away, there are only four games to go until the end of the Poule Salvezza and at the Rossoblù home the hope of finishing at the top is growing.
