INAUGURATION – The Junior Pan American Badminton Championship will start this Thursday

After 12 years of waiting, the Badminton Pan Am Junior Championship returns to the Dominican Republic, in its thirtieth edition, with the participation of 350 athletes from 17 countries, with the support of the Ministries of Tourism, Sports and the Dominican Olympic Committee.

The fair, organized by the Dominican Badminton Federation with the endorsement of the Pan American Confederation of this sport, will be held from July 14 to 22 at the Parque del Este Table Tennis Pavilion and will compete in the sub-13, sub-15, sub-17, sub-19 and by teams.

This was reported by the general director of the tournament, Generoso Castillo, who stressed that the event has a tourism-cultural component, since the visiting athletes will be staying in hotels in the Colonial Zone and will enjoy a special program organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, in the historic center of the city.

Followed by Castillo, the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Mr. Antonio Acosta Corletto, stated that the COD will offer logistical support for the assembly of the tournament (rooms, transportation and television transmission).

On his side, the Vice Minister of Sports Kennedy Vargas indicated on behalf of the minister of that portfolio, Francisco Camacho Miderec, that he will guarantee the good condition of the facilities.

Similarly, the events director of Badminton Pan Am, Ricardo Salamanca, pointed out the importance of the continental championship, indicating that it awards three thousand points for the world ranking.

The president of the Dominican Karate Federation, José Luis Ramírez, was also present at the activity.

The contest has among its registered the American Ryan Ma, current number 85 in the badminton world ranking, as well as the main junior rackets in the country, the Dominicans Kael Sosa, Michelle Guzmán, Ronelkis Reyes, Katherine Carrasco, Yarianna Torres and José Pichardo.

The fair also has the collaboration of Claro, Gatorade and Bepensa with its brands Coca Cola and Dasani.

The 30th Pan-American Youth Badminton Championship will be broadcast on the Olympic channel Colimdo 88 TV and through the platforms www.colimdotv.com, www.badmintonpanam.org and www.badmintondom.com/es.
