“I didn’t like my departure from Barcelona”

Dani Alves He is without a team although there will be news about his future soon. The Brazilian wants to continue playing because he has a goal in mind: Qatar World Cup. He doesn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to play a World Cup event for the third time and, to do so, he knows that he needs to have minutes at a high level. He has spoken at length about all this in an interview for The Guardian.

Xavi Hernández’s Barcelona decided not to have Dani Alves for next season, ending a six-month relationship. The Brazilian arrived in the winter market from Sao Paulo. “I didn’t leave sad but happy to have returned to the club. I dreamed for five years of wanting to relive this second moment. The only thing I didn’t like was how my departure was handled”answered the Brazilian flatly in The Guardian.

He added: “Since I arrived, I made it very clear that I was no longer a 20-year-old boy and that I wanted things to be done up front, without hiding anything. But this club has sinned in recent years because they don’t care about the people who made history. As a fan, I would like Barcelona to do things differently. I’m not talking about myself because my situation was different, although I am eternally grateful to Xavi and the president for making me come back”.

In his second spell in Spain, Alves played 17 games compared to 247 in his first cycle in the eight years he wore the Barça shirt. This time he found “A club full of young people with very good ideas on the pitch, but they have to improve their work outside. The mentality is totally opposite to the one we built a few years ago. Everything that happens on the field is a reflection of what happens outside”.

Dani Alves could soon arrive at Pumas in Mexico, although he has been linked to various clubs such as his friend Ronaldo’s Real Valladolid or Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Atlético Paranaense. “I like challenges and I adapt to any situation. I am doing a study on the places I can go and that have a good level of competitiveness. You have to get together with people who want the same goal, who want to compete, win. I like to win. I want to go to a place where I can win. I don’t rule out any situation, but if I go back to Brazil, it will be to Atlético Paranaense”, said the winger about his future.

He also took the opportunity to reflect on the violence against soccer players in his native country where he stated that it is necessary to “improve Brazilian soccer, fight against violence in the stadiums. It is shameful what has happened in the games. People have children, they want to see something they can admire. If not, it becomes frustration, trauma.

At 39 years old, Dani Alves is still thinking about returning to a World Cup, which would mean playing it for the third time after the 2010 and 2014 World Cup events. The Brazilian is one of the leaders in the dressing room that Tite directs.

“No one plays because they are friends with the coach. In the end, it is your job that is at risk. It will not be exposed. It’s not dumb. He needs players who fit what he needs. The coach (Tite) and I have been working together for many years. It is a relationship in which one trusts and demands high performance from the other. It is very demanding,” he commented on his relationship with Tite.

About his retirement, he expressed the following: “The last dance is when you are going to retire, but I think I will continue dancing. A dance is always welcome, regardless of the place and which dance. I do not think so. And the last dance has already been done. It is better to create a new chapter, a new series. It’s another chapter of my life.”

RACISM

Dani Alves has suffered on more than one occasion on a soccer field from insults of all kinds to constant whistles. Instead, he has always shown a good face and has been very clear. Recently, the Brazilian criticized the comments of his compatriot Nelson Pieque about Lewis Hamilton.

“I get upset. But not only for the fact itself. NI’m not going to go very deep into this because pushing a drunk down a hill is easy. It is not only because of Nelson Piquet’s statement but because of everything that is happening. If the biggest winner of Formula 1 is attacked, despised and excluded, imagine who is down there in society, ”he expressed about the case of racism from Piquet to Hamilton, in The Guardian.

“Lewis Hamilton is a guy who can transform lives and he has to keep fighting. We have a mission and no one will make us falter”, concluded Dani Alves.
