Hungarian international Szilard Benke strengthens BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque

BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque has just announced the arrival of Hungarian winger Szilard Benke (1.96m, 27) from Falco Szombathely. He’s the Maritimes’ third summer recruit.

He faced the Blues last night in Vendée. Hungarian international Szilard Benke has decided to head for Sportica. The winger will discover the Betclic Elite next season, for his first year abroad. He becomes the first Hungarian player to wear the BCM jersey.

« We wanted with the staff a player capable of evolving on the two outside positions, position 2 and 3. And we had the idea, as we had been able to do with Dominik, to give a chance to a Bosman or Cotonou player, to allow him to discover the Betclic Elite. Szilard already has a lot of European experience. He is the reigning double Hungarian champion, has regularly played in European cups for several seasons and is an important player for his national team. He was eager to export himself and discover France, we are delighted that it is with the BCM. Maybe he will need a period of adaptation but he has qualities as a basketball player and athletic qualities which will allow him to express himself in our championship. We are confident because in basketball he is a very intelligent player », Analyzes Olivier Bourgain, sports director of the BCM.

Champion of Hungary with his club Falco Szombathely, he has good statistics with 13.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3 assists on average. The previous season, he played in the Basketball Champions League where he met SIG Strasbourg (12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists on average).

It is therefore the third Graveline recruit after Matthieu Gauzin (interview to be found this Thursday on Basket Europe) and JaJuan Johnson.
