4th and penultimate Major of the women’s season, the Amundi Evian Championship begins this Thursday in Haute-Savoie. Among the 132 players involved are four representatives of French golf.
Since 2013, the only Major played in continental Europe takes place in France. It was 9 years ago that theAmundi Evian Championship has indeed obtained the so precious appellation. With an increase in prize money of 1.5 million compared to the previous edition, 6.5 million dollars or 6.35 million euros is a check for one million that will be given to the winner. A land of records
In recent years, several records have been set on the par 71 of theEvian Resort Golf Club. In 2014, the South Korean Hyo Joo Kim signed the lowest score played in a Major (men and women combined) with a 61 (-10) in the first round, before winning the event on Sunday evening.
Another men’s and women’s record combined with his -21, In Gee Chun has the lowest four-day score at the end of a Major. The old reference mark was -20 (Henrik Stenson at The Open 2016 et Jason Day au PGA Championship 2015).
Finally, last year, the Australian Minjee Lee made up for seven strokes before winning theAmundi Evian Championship in playoff. This is the largest deficit raised during a last round of Women’s Major.
