Foot: the Bordeaux club finally maintained in Ligue 2 by the FFF

Initially downgraded administratively to National (3e division), the club from south-west France was drafted into Ligue 2 three days before the start of the season, the executive board of the French Football Federation (FFF) decided on Wednesday July 27, putting an end to to a long soap opera.

The club must also be summoned by the National Directorate of Control and Management (DNCG) “to judge any immediate monitoring and control measures against it” and the Girondins will be under “reinforced and regular financial control during the 2022 season. -2023”, specifies the press release from the FFF.

A first match on Saturday

After several appeals, Bordeaux, sportingly relegated to L2 then administratively downgraded to National (3e division) by the National Directorate of Control and Management, is therefore authorized to play in Ligue 2. He could receive Valenciennes on Saturday, for the 1re daytime. Early Wednesday afternoon, the match was not yet on the program of the Professional Football League. The meeting had been left in abeyance, “pending ongoing procedures”, is written on the LFP website.

Suffering from great budgetary difficulties, the Girondins were saved in extremis by the FFF, which urgently brought together its “comex” on Wednesday morning. The leaders returned to the decision issued and confirmed on appeal by the DNCG which condemned the Girondins to start the 2022-2023 season in National, at the risk of the club filing for bankruptcy.

The comex followed the conciliation proposal from the National Olympic Committee (CNOSF) on Monday, which pleaded for reinstatement in L2. Not yet materialized at the time of the hearings at the DNCG, in July, the guarantees provided since by the club ended up convincing the Federation and its president, Noël Le Graët, who had been very critical of the management of the club six times champion of France .

Bordeaux-Métropole, which gave up at the end of June to collect from the Girondins a rent of 5 million euros for the Matmut Atlantique stadium for the coming season, evokes “excellent news”. “All those who mobilized to achieve this result must be thanked,” said its president (PS) Alain Anziani. “It’s a collective victory.
