Federer and Serena drop out of ATP and WTA rankings

In 1997, Roger Federer and Serena Williams broke into the ATP and WTA rankings. Twenty-five years later, the two tennis legends, who no longer have any points on the clock, come out. The Swiss has been absent from the courts since the 2021 edition of Wimbledon, where he reached the quarter-finals, due to a knee injury. After a year without playing a singles tournament, Serena Williams missed her return to the London turf this year, beaten in the first round by Harmony Tan.

For Roger Federer, the competition will still have to wait. Celebrated during the London Grand Slam on July 3, at a ceremony for the 100th anniversary of Center Court, the 40-year-old said he did not think that “it would take that long to get back on the circuit“. “The knee hasn’t been kind to me“, he added. The twenty-time Grand Slam champion is expected to play again at the Laver Cup in September. He also expressed his wish to return “once moreat Wimbledon. (With AFP)
