FC Barcelona Market | Braithwaite resists leaving the ‘Barça brand’

It’s been more than two months since Xavi told him that he won’t have a place in the squad, but until now he hasn’t made it any easier to find a solution

The Danish footballer has multiplied the benefits of his businesses since he is a Barça footballer; he stands out on the ‘Forbes’ list as one of the most successful business footballers

The League ended on May 22. As Xavi said in his last press conferences of the course, he waited until the end of the official season to talk to the footballers with whom he did not count for the next course. That was two months ago now. Neto, Riqui Puig, Mingueza, Lenglet, Umtiti and Braithwaite. The latter was soon in charge of making it clear that his intention was to convince Xavi. It was not in his plans to leave.

OKAY. Despite having only played 24′ since the player from Terrassa landed on the Barça bench, the Danish attacker believed that he had options to reverse the situation. Nothing is further from reality. After a week and a half of preseason under the orders of the former Al-Sadd coach, he left him off the list to travel to the United States tour. Hard blow and direct and clear message. Very clear. Xavi didn’t even give him the opportunity to try. More after the official announcement of Lewandowski, of course. There’s overbooking upstairs and Martin is last in line.

GO OUT TO PLAY AND BE IN THE WORLD CUP

From there, the Nordic has to choose. Or stay in Barcelona knowing that except for a miracle he will not have a record for the next course or accept any of the offers you have on the table. Including the last one from Ajax, a destination that is undoubtedly attractive and that would guarantee him play in the Champions League. The problem? That the ‘Barça brand’ comes in handy for the footballer.

Beyond a goal worker and a ‘hard worker’ from the area, Braithwaite is a successful businessman. Totally successful. Together with his uncle, he owns a real estate company with a market value of 250 million dollars (about 212 million euros). Figure, next to Leo Messi, in the list Forbes as one of the most successful business footballers. He owns around 1,500 homes and has 500 under construction, according to the Danish newspaper ‘BT’. Almost nothing.

In other words, the hypothesis of staying to maintain your current salary status can be ruled out.

THE DANISH COACH, CLEAR

Does Martin prioritize his role as a ‘businessman’ over that of a player? We’ll see in the next few weeks. If he wants to be in the World Cup in Qatar (probably the last one he will opt for as a player) he knows he has to go. Yes or yes. The Danish coach, Kasper Hjulmand, has already made it clear that no one who does not play regularly would be among the chosen ones.

At the same time, if he ‘separates’ from the Barça brand, he will lose something that has helped him catapult his businesses. Obviously there is much more behind. But living in Spain and playing in La Liga certainly benefits him. Another (more logical) possibility is that is waiting for the club to activate the pending levers and give him the letter of freedom with some financial compensation for the remaining two years of his contract. We will see.
