We finish in Arenberg, just about before the gate to hell: the Forest of Wallers. We don’t visit that famous stretch from Paris-Roubaix ourselves, but we do visit a few other well-known stretches such as those to Erre d’Wandagnies and Hasnon a Wallers, the last cobblestone section of the day. There are also a lot of long-term men present. Taco van der Hoorn (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert) has undoubtedly touched on this stage, but may face competition from other similar types such as Florian Vermeersch (Lotto Soudal), Stefan Bissegger (EF Education-EasyPost) and Max Walscheid (Cofidis). We expect guys like Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) and Nils Politt (BORA-hansgrohe) to have to do servants.
Finally, the all-rounders, who often surface in this kind of crazy Tour rides. Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers) has done an excellent job on the cobblestones in the Tour in the past, while for Tadej Pogacar (UAE-Team Emirates) will be his first foray into racing.
