Falklands nominate flag bearers for Commonwealth Games in Birmingham

The choice of flag bearers for the Falkland Islands delegation to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, fell to Daphne Arthur-Almond of the Lawn Bowls team and Doug Clark of the Badminton team.

The Games kick off on July 28 and the Falkland flag bearers were announced last week.

Daphne who currently trains in the UK will be representing the Islands in Lawn Bowling for the first time added, “I am speechless. That honor. I am delighted and very proud to be able to be the Falklands flag bearer.”

The Games will take place from July 28 to August 8 and Team Falklands will be fielding 16 athletes.

Badminton is a classic Island sport in which it repeatedly competes in international games and this time it will send a mix of experienced and debutant players.
