Falcao: “I want to compete, I’m excited about Rayo”

Rayo Vallecano fulfilled its main objective in the last campaign, which was to stay in the First Division. The team led by Andoni Iraola had a great first part of the season and those savings were enough to continue in the highest category of Spanish football, since he finished in 12th place with 42 points.

Falcao García started well and conquered the fans with goals, but physical problems appeared that affected his continuity. Now he gets ready in the preseason and trusts that his team continues on the right track to achieve the objectives, as he expressed in an exclusive interview for Radius snail.

“I try to push myself to the maximum to be well, to earn a place in the team and give him what he needs from me, which are goals. I know that Spanish football has evolved a lot, that perhaps more is needed than it was 10 years ago and that is why it requires more commitment, care and effort on my part, but I want to continue competing, to continue fighting and excited about Rayo. We have a squad with good players, who are very hungry and if we continue on the path of last season we can do something interesting”, said the Colombian.

The differences between European and South American football

In South America football is not as advanced as in Europe”, said Kylian Mbappé, former teammate of the Tiger in Monaco, months ago. These statements caused an impact in the world of football and several players, coaches and coaches have given their point of view. This time it was Falcao, who sees South American football as competitive.

“There are technologies, advances, work methodologies that are different and that have the tools to prepare and be in better conditions, but in South America it is very competitive, very difficult, because there are different temperatures, heights, the courses are not the best, the demands force that the tactical approaches are not to attack because the position of the coach is at stake. We are not much about processes, there are other pressures and demands, but I think that South American soccer is very competitive, it has a lot of quality”, Falcao expressed.

However, El Tigre cited cases in two countries that serve as an example for the rest of South America: “In short, here there are many tools that are not available in South America, perhaps in Colombia, but in Brazil they do have them because when we played the Copa América we visited sports complexes of the clubs and they were impressive. In Argentina each club has its sports complex and in Colombia we often lack that. We have to grow as a country, it’s not to criticize, but we must add and try to help so that our football continues to grow”.
