Fabio Basile, guest star at the ‘stage’ organized by Club Akari

From July 14 to 17, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will host nearly 200 judokas from the national and regional territory to attend the first edition of the judo stage organized by Club Akari. This activity will be directed by Jorge Hernández, technician of the Canarian Federation and technical director of the organizing entity.

There will also be the presence of the Madrilenian Xavier Delgado, judoka with an enviable sporting record. And as an international guest, the event has the presence of the Italian Fabio Basilewho was Olympic champion in the Rio 2016 Games in the -66 kilogram category, who will help the progression of all the athletes present at the Jesus Telo Sports Center from the capital of Gran Canaria.

In the sports improvement program of the stage, a technical seminar focused on preparing for the black belt exam has also been included. This will be directed by José Luis Alvarez, a specialist teacher in Nage-No-Kata and who will provide different technical details to all attendees.

During this activity, four intense days will be lived. Jorge Hernández, director of the activity, describes this event from July 14 to 17 as “a unique opportunity where the judokas present can share a tatami with an international elite judoka.”

The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD), sponsors this sporting event in order to continue promoting the practice of physical activity, in general, and martial arts, in particular. The stage organized by Club Akari also has the support of the Cabildo. In this same line of collaboration, the organizers have the support of the Gran Canaria and Canarias Judo Federations.
