JT Poston led the John Deere Classic from start to finish to claim the second victory of his career and qualify for The Open in two weeks, along with Argentinian Emiliano Grillo and South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
Finally the double blow for Poston! Second last week in the Travelers Championship behind Xander Schauffele, James Tyree Poston (-21) this time won the John Deere Classic after leading the tournament from start to finish, a first since 1992 on the TPC Deere Run, to also qualify for The Open! Started three strokes ahead on Sunday morningthe title was perhaps already played after three holes and its three initial birdies!

His two bogeys in a row (5 and 6) reminded everyone that winning on the PGA Tour is never easy. And the little help of fate came at hole number 12 with a far too fast putt which was miraculously stopped by the base of the mast, conveniently left in the hole!

Eleven pars and a birdie to finish as champion
But with eleven pars to finish and a bonus birdie on par 5 of 17, it’s the victory of a player who has been unfazed for two weeks during which he remains on a score of -38! With this second career title, the 29-year-old American qualifies for The Open in two weeks. “It was hard having to keep the lead from day one,” he admitted. I got off to a good start on Sunday and managed to make the right choices at the end of the day. »

Grillo and Bezuidenhout race to St. Andrews
The right choices, Emiliano Grillo made them…for eleven holes! Clumsy on the greens, the Argentinian failed to put pressure on Poston at the end of the day. Too bad because the winner of the Frys.Com Open 2015 had come within a stroke from hole number 12, before conceding two crippling bogeys on the 12th and 14th. The former DP World Tour player finished second and will console himself with a ticket for the British Open. The South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout also finished at three lengths thanks to three birdies on his last five holes. The three members of the podium will play the 150th British Open in St. Andrews in two weeks!

Hole in one for Streelman
Revelation of the week, the 22-year-old American Christopher Gotterup finishes fourth. We will also retain the hole in one of Kevin Streelman to 12. And the reaction of pride of Paul Barjon who did not pass the cut despite a second day in the par.
