Stefan Effenberg is a man of clear words. Now there is criticism of Julian Nagelsmann. His new relationship is “extremely difficult”.

Munich – Stefan Effenberg is famous for his controversies. With his provocative nature, the ex-professional regularly made headlines during his active career. The “Tiger” as he himself since a lost bet Bet that…? calls, offends. The latest target of the Effenberg scolding: Julian Nagelsmann.

FC Bayern: Nagelsmann loves Bayern reporter – Effenberg is a thorn in the side of the relationship

Since this year, the Bayern coach has been in a relationship with the Bild-Reporter Lena Wurzenberger. Nagelsmann’s separation from his childhood sweetheart Verena, with whom he had been together for 15 years and married for four years, had only recently become known. His new partner reported mainly about FC Bayern for the picture. That’s how Nagelsmann and Wurzenberger got to know each other. However, the Bayern coach keeps his private life out of the public eye as much as possible.

However, this relationship is a thorn in Stefan Effenberg’s side, as he did in an interview with t-online.de reveals. At the beginning of the conversation, the “Tiger” was enthusiastic about the transfers from FC Bayern, but then the mood changed. “Of course, nothing is good yet,” Effenberg begins his sweeping statement.

Effenberg criticizes Nagelsmann – and draws a comparison with Gladbach’s ex-manager Eberl

“I’m surprised how quiet it has become about Julian Nagelsmann and his new relationship,” said the ex-professional, who fears: “It could fall on his feet at some point.” Effenberg doesn’t think much of Nagelsmann’s relationship. “Personally, I find this constellation extremely difficult, I think it’s dangerous and I think you have to watch it,” says the 53-year-old.

“Personally, however, I find this constellation extremely difficult, consider it dangerous and think that you have to watch it.”

Effenberg draws the comparison to Mönchengladbach’s ex-manager Max Eberl, who was with the club’s team manager. “She noticed things that made the players ask themselves: Does this end up with the boss now? It’s even more difficult with a journalist, especially with one from ‘Bild’,” he is convinced. Wurzenberger’s employer immediately dismissed the journalist from FC Bayern after the relationship became known. From then on she reports on other topics.

The “Tiger” still believes that Nagelsmann’s relationship could cause serious damage: “As a player, you have to talk to your coach in private and be able to trust him. In the back of your mind, however, you may be wondering whether he will tell his girlfriend about it at home.” This constellation makes it “tricky” for Nagelsmann, who is already under pressure from a sporting perspective.

He ignores the fact that Effenberg himself made some headlines with his love affairs. Shortly after separating from his first wife Martina, he began a relationship with the partner of his ex-colleague and longtime friend Thomas Strunz. Then it rained sharp criticism for Effenberg.

He “didn’t relax” his new wife Claudia Thomas Strunz, as he later explained in the ARD program Beckmann defended. “I lost a friend, but gained a wife,” was Effenberg’s dry statement. (vfi)
