Jasper Philipsen finished second in the Tour 3 times last year and he is also in 2 second places in the 2022 edition (albeit now with a victory). “This is my fault,” he confesses.
“I had misjudged a corner at one and a half kilometers from the end and lost the wheel. I had informed my pilot Krieger, but apparently he did not hear me.”
“After that it was chaos. There were not many teammates left and Laporte took advantage of that. I could have jumped with him and sacrifice my sprint, but I chose to wait.”
“In the sprint I was clearly the strongest. This is a missed opportunity, because I had good legs. This was not allowed to happen”, he is strict. “Everything on Sunday then.”
Stuyven: “They’re getting me back. Basta!”
Jasper Stuyven provided a small thundercloud over Cahors after the finish. “It was like always, hey”, he mumbles.
“There’s really not much to tell. They’re getting me back. Basta!”
“We were strong, but apparently not strong enough, because we were taken back.”
