The shooter from Villabona was victorious in the test held at the Coto el Castillo, in Álava

Organized by the Basque Hunting Federation, the 2022 Euskadi Hunting Routes Championship was held last Sunday at the Coto el Castillo (Álava), a test in which a total of 78 shooters competed in search of the txapelas at stake. The Gipuzkoan shooter from Behar-Zana, David Robles, won the overall victory with 93 of 100 targets, beating Javi Santos in second place with 92 targets and Urtzi Oyarbide in third place with 91 targets.

With this victory, Robles adds his second txapela in the Euskadi Touring Championship after the one harvested in 2014. Great level in senior with triumph for Sebastián Olabuenaga with 90 hits, ahead of Paulo Magalhaes second with 88 targets and Gaspar Jauregi third with 86 plates.

In junior victory for Odei Iparraguirre with 70 hits, second position for Oier Urbitarte with 68 targets and Adur Casado third with 64 targets. Leire Egaña with 70 hits prevailed in ladies, while Rufino Mendia with 71 targets beat Enrique Arrondo by one target.

Good performance by the veterans with victory for Juan Gardezabal with 88 hits, ahead of Jose Mari Pérez second with 83 and Lazaro Oyarbide third with 79. Javier Ayarza prevailed in the master category with 78 targets, beating Pedro María Jiménez second with 75 targets. .

‘Odie’ and ‘Moncho’, Euskadi champions

Organized by the Basque Hunting Federation, the Euskadi Championship of British and Continental Pointing Dogs was held last Sunday at Coto el Castillo (Álava). The hunters classified in the respective territories were divided into two batteries, which were judged by Manu Loinaz and Fermín Irigoyen the British and by Enrique Sanz and Jesús Santos the continentals.

Once the competition turns were completed, ‘Adarmendi Odie’ Joxan Rekondo’s English setter, who was led by Hector Ciria, took over the British test, completing a great championship and winning with an excellent. Following in the classification was the English setter ‘De la Tiradera Hidra’ owned by José María Peña, who came in second with a very good performance, while the bronze went to ‘Nada de Fontelo’, an English setter owned by Xabier Uriarte.

In the continental competitions, the regional txapela went to ‘Del vino fino Moncho’, a Breton epagneul by Eduardo Torres, who achieved victory with an excellent score, beating his other Breton epagneul ‘Dandi de los Manchones’, second classified with a very good score, and the Breton epagneul ‘Lis’ Javier Oñederra bronze with a very good.

Aranburu wins the Gipuzkoa Cup

Shooter Mikel Aranburu won the Pichón a Cage Gipuzkoa Cup, organized by the ‘Orion’ Society at Campa Izarre Jandalo in Azkoitia. ‘Oca’ and ‘Nani’ win in ‘El Castillo’

The “El Castillo” Preserve in Santa Cruz del Fierro (Álava) hosted the 2022 Gipuzkoa Show Dog Championship last Saturday, July 2. A total of 22 dogs participated in the test in search of the txapelas at stake and of qualifying for the Autonomous Championship.

After the different turns of competition, the English setter ‘Adarmendi Oca’, owned by Joxan Rekondo, took over the test in the British, which was led for the occasion by Hector Ciria, achieving an excellent. In second position was the English setter ‘Jai’ by Santiago Bernardo with an excellent, while ‘Capo’ by Antxon Sánchez took the bronze with another excellent.

In continental breeds, Javier Oñederra’s Breton epagneul ‘Nani’ with an excellent won the test, also achieving second position with his Breton epagneul ‘Lis’ with a very good.

Intense weekend of competitions

El Coto el Castillo in Santa Cruz del Fierro (Araba), hosts five top-level hunting tests this weekend at its facilities. On Saturday, July 9, the VII Euskadi Cup of Hunting Routes and the San Huberto Gipuzkoa Championship will be held. On Sunday, July 10, it will be the turn of the Euskadi Field Target Championship, the Euskadi San Huberto Championship and the Euskadi Archery Route Championship.

European Fly Salmon Championship

From July 4 to 10, the XXVI European Championship of Absolute Fly Salmonids was held in Stor-Elvdal (Norway). The Spanish National Team started as one of the favorites for the final victory, taking into account the great record it has won in this event, with several consecutive podiums, such as bronze in 2016, silver in 2017 and bronze in 2018.
