Both parties are confident that they will agree “in the foreseeable future” on extending the contract by four or five years, the “kicker” reported. In principle, the 26-year-old is satisfied with the offer from Munich, but the details are still at stake. The midfielder’s contract with the German record champions expires after the coming season.
Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic recently stated that the club “absolutely wanted to keep” Gnabry. “I think we showed him the necessary appreciation. I hope that he will choose FC Bayern, »said Salihamidzic to the Sky TV channel at the end of June.
If Gnabry does not accept the offer to extend, the winger is considered a candidate for sale. Otherwise he could leave Munich free of charge in the summer of 2023. According to media reports, Chelsea FC recently showed interest in Gnabry.
Gnabry, like star newcomer Sadio Mané, had started training with Bayern after the summer break last week. Robert Lewandowski, who wants to leave the club for FC Barcelona, completed his first session after returning from vacation on Wednesday. The Bayern stars will present themselves to their fans in the Allianz Arena on Saturday, after which they will go on a week-long trip to the USA.
