We continue to get more signals that energetic Chicago Bulls rookie Dalen Terry just “gets it.” First, the 18th overall pick reported how personal it was for him to come to Chicago. She then showed it by selecting the number 25 as the jersey number in honor of the late Chicago hoops legend Benji Wilson.

Terry’s enthusiasm also took the form of wearing a Dennis Rodman shirt for his pre-match attire, another tenacious figure in Bulls history.

But the tower isn’t just limited to former Chicago or Bulls legends.

He’s also honoring current ones while also showing love to another deceased basketball hero. All of these are signs of Terry’s energy and enthusiasm as the Bulls aimed to target that type of player.

I must be the shoes

Terry took part in an official rookie photo shoot ahead of the Bulls’ summer championship final against the Philadelphia 76ers on July 16. He wore the iconic red Bulls jerseys for the shoot. But it was his footwear that captured most of the attention.

The rookie wore matching red Nike Kobe 1 Protro TV PE, also known as “DeMar DeRozan’s”.

DeRozan made his debut in the shoe on April 4, 2018 while he was with the Toronto Raptors against the Boston Celtics. He finished that game with 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal when the Raptors won 96-78.

He wore the all-white, or “Noise Canceling,” versions the night he lost a record 50 of the season – including 10 points in the fourth quarter – and lifted the Bulls over the Los Angeles Clippers 135-130 in extra time on March 31. .

The three-time All-NBA selection spoke about the impact of the late Bryant on his career.

Terry said in his introductory press conference that he saw “so much” DeRozan last season.

He averaged 14.0 points in four games with 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists, shooting 56.3% from the field and 42.9% from three points. The blow to be made is that Terry also has an average of 4.5 turnovers. But his steady progression throughout the summer has been a nice sign for a Bulls team that is still trying to tackle some health issues.

A theme for Terry

The positive reviews about Terry have been as consistent as his ability to live up to the moment. Bulls general manager Marc Eversley cited Terry’s energy on draft night, while team vice president Arturas Karnisovas and head coach Billy Donovan said similar things.

Donovan went so far as to challenge the 19-year-old to keep his energy high during the ups and downs of an 82-game NBA season.

Terry made his best effort of the summer in the Bulls 89-73 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

He lost 20 points, five rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist by shooting 66.7% in total and boxing both of his triples.

As Rob Schaefer of NBC Sports Chicago wrote, Terry “was a defensive chaos agent throughout the game, harassing ball handlers, deflecting countless passes and even flying from behind to interrupt an alley-oop attempt.”

While discussing signing his maximum contract, teammate Zach LaVine said he had a chance to meet Terry in Las Vegas.

“Very exciting kid, very competitive.”

See Red

We saw that competitiveness on display when he took a technical foul during the Bulls’ 101-69 defeat to the New York Knicks. Terry had a dry answer for Bulls.com’s Sam Smith who asked why he had committed the infraction.

Dalen Terry defended his flagrant foul today, saying he simply didn’t want to give up a layup.

The Bulls could probably do without the foul. But the mentality of not letting anything be easy for your opponent when he is defending is what he needs to permeate the entire roster.
