Israeli long-distance runner Lonah Chemtai Salpeter won the bronze medal for Israel in the women’s marathon on Monday (18 July) at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
This was Israel’s first marathon medal at World Championships!
Chemtai Salpeter finished in 2:20:18, just two minutes behind Gotytom Gebreslase, who won gold in 2:18:11, and Kenya’s Judith Jeptum Korir, who finished nine seconds behind Gebreslase .
