(Belga) Kangoeroes Mechelen has extended the contract of its coach Kristof Michiels until 2024, the BNXT League club, the Belgian-Dutch basketball championship, announced on Monday.
Michiels, 38, arrived in Mechelen in the summer of 2021 to take over from Paul Vervaeke on the Mechelen bench. Michiels already had a contract which ran until 2023 and which was extended for one season. For his first season with the Kangoeroes, he led the club to the final of the BNXT League national playoffs, losing to Ostend. Next season, Mechelen will play the FIBA Europe Cup, the antechamber of the Basketball Champions League, with Antwerp. (Belga)
