BMX cyclist Kibare takes fifth place in the U16 group of the World Championship – Cycling – Sportacentrs.com

On the third day of the competition in the BMX World Championship, the athletes of the older youth as well as the younger amateur groups competed. Among them there is also a group of Latvian drivers. The competition stood out with a lot of competition. For example, in the B15 and B16 groups, the athletes started their elimination journeys from the round of 16.

Paula Kibare, who started in the G16 group, was the furthest from the representatives of Latvia. The path of the European Championship medalist to the world final was quite convincing. After one victory and two second places in the preliminaries, the second position in the round of 16 followed. In the continuation, the student of Edžus Treimaņa was third in her quarter-final and semi-final races.

In the final, Paula started from the eighth track. In the first straight, our athlete fought fiercely for the fourth position. In the middle part of the track, Paula stabilized in the fifth place, where she also finished, achieving a very commendable success. It should be noted that Kibare was the fastest of the European women. The winner was the US rider Eva Corley.

Among the boys, Kristers Apels (“BMX Rīga/ RRS”), competing in the B15 group, should be singled out. Our athlete won second place in six races in a row until the semi-finals. In the semi-final, Apel, after a very fierce battle, crossed the finish line in fifth place, remaining immediately behind the final. However, even a place in the top ten will be in a big competition is a very commendable success.

In the G14 girls’ group, the sixth place in the semi-finals went to Adelina Kārkliņa from “MŠA – Valmiera Puikas VSS”. Another of our hopes in today’s competition, Edgars Langmanis, after a convincing performance in the preliminaries, was forced to retire in the first elimination round.

Athletes of the Master groups will compete for medals on Friday, while the championship class competition will begin on Saturday.
