This week, at the end of the summer holidays, there were several belt tests for the Laichinger martial artists.

It all started with the karate kids, with 10 kids taking their first or second belt test. Examiner Gerd Zeifang was very enthusiastic about the performance of all examinees, which is why everyone was happy about their new belts at the end of the one and a half hour examination.

Then the larger karatekas competed, and here the desired belts became a little darker. Different techniques had to be shown in their basic form, as well as in the application with the partner. Furthermore, depending on the graduation, different katas had to be performed, these are fixed movement sequences in which all individual techniques are shown in combination. The highest grade tested was the second blue belt, and Niklas Schott and Kaya Auer passed this test successfully. Also worth mentioning is the performance of Jan-Marius Auer, who took part in his second test. Despite his physical limitations, he rose to the challenge and passed it with flying colours. After a sweaty exam, which was partly due to the hot weather, all 13 candidates were allowed to receive their certificates.

One day later, the judokas’ test took place. Here the excitement was particularly great for the little ones, who were competing for the first time. Nevertheless, they skilfully demonstrated the techniques learned in the training in front of the trainers, examiners and parents. In judo, a distinction is made in the examination subjects safe falling, throwing, ground fighting and randori. In addition to the technical aspects, a lot of value is placed on etiquette in Asian martial arts, which includes treating your training partners with respect and supporting each other when learning new techniques. After all 11 examinees had demonstrated exactly this, they too were allowed to put on their new belts before the summer holidays.
