BBL: Giant Maik Kotsar leaves Hamburg Towers and moves to top Spanish club | Sports

The Towers are losing their best man. Maik Kotsar (25) is moving to top Spanish club Vitoria, signing for two years. The Basques were eliminated by eventual champions Real Madrid in the play-off semifinals last season.

The Estonian (87 competitive games for Hamburg) came to Wilhelmsburg from US college in 2021 and was the best center in the BBL in his first two years as a professional (15.3 and 14.4 points on average), most recently also their strongest rebounder ( 7.3).

“Maik has developed incredibly with us,” enthuses Towers boss Marvin Willoughby (44). And adds: “It was therefore clear to us that we could not extend it again this summer.”

As a result of the change, the 2.11 m giant Kotsar has also been promoted to the European premier class, the Euro League.
