Basketball – Schröder is back – and convinced – Sport

The German basketball players clinched their fifth win in a row in qualifying for the 2023 World Cup, improving their starting position for participation in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. Led by the strong NBA professional Dennis Schröder (), the national team defeated Poland 93:83 (40:36) on Sunday evening in front of 6539 spectators in Bremen. As the winner of Group D, Germany had already been determined before the game. At the end of August, the second part of the World Cup qualification will continue. Finland and European champion Slovenia with NBA star Luka Doncic will also be in the German group. The top three teams in the group of six will eventually qualify for the 2023 title fights in Asia. The highlight of 2022 for the Germans is the European Championships at home, which will be played in Cologne and Berlin from September 1st to 18th.

The best German player against Poland was Schröder, who scored 38 points. In the beginning, the 28-year-old from the Houston Rockets missed several three-pointers, but found his usual rhythm in the second quarter. AJ Slaughter (32 points) played well for the Poles.
