Baseball Bundesliga play-offs: Hamburg Stealers show attitude

In the play-off quarter-finals against Heideheim Heideköpfe, the Hamburg Stealers remained pointless with 10:13, 1:13.

It was clear that the Hamburg Stealers had a very difficult task ahead of them. After all, the opponent and defending champion Heideheimer Heideköpfe was a big favorite. But the Hamburgers showed that they were not afraid of big names. In the first game of the play-off quarter-finals, they made it difficult for the heath heads and narrowly lost the match with 10:13. They kept up until the last inning. The score was 2-0 in the first inning. In the sixth section of the game, a deficit of 7:10 could be turned into a 10:10. However, then the playing strength of the German champion prevails. He hit three runs in the eighth of nine innings. The bottom line was a surprisingly narrow Stealers defeat of 13:10.

Simon Baumer was the offensive standout for the Stealers with three hits, including a double. Tyler Villaroman, Mirko Oliczewsky and Julius Perez played two hits each. When pitchers came Rickert Koch, Max Mueller, Simon Baumer and Timo Harder used, with Bäumer being attributed to the loss.

In the second match on Sunday, the German champions dominated the field and confidently played off their offensive power.

“We played well offensively in the first game. As a coach, I was also very proud of the morale and fighting spirit our team showed. On Sunday, the Heidenheimer hit the ball very well again. We didn’t do that as well in this game as we did on Saturday. All in all, you have to say that we didn’t get Heidenheim’s well-known strong offensive under control. Nevertheless, we will do everything we can to make life in our ballpark as difficult as possible for the heather heads next weekend. We saw in the first game that we don’t stand a chance.”
