Barça open the paths of Íñigo Martínez and Pau Torres

While Joan Laporta continues with his economic juggling to find money and strengthen the squad, FC Barcelona plays this morning (at 5.00) the first Clásico of the season against Real Madrid, in Las Vegas, where the whites will make their pre-season debut and the Blaugrana will play their third game of the 2022/23 season. All this while the club sees how Koundé can escape and has opened the way for Íñigo Martínez (Athletic) and Pau Torres (Villa-real) as an alternative. The Sevilla defender seems closer to Chelsea and for this reason, Barça would have activated other options to strengthen the defense

In an unusual scenario, although both already experienced a similar situation in the summer of 2017 in Miami, Carlo Ancelotti’s team and Xavi Hernández’s team will measure strength in a duel where the emotional aspect may be above the ‘sportive and where the eyes can be focused on the new signings of each. Thus, it is expected that this match will be the one chosen for the debut of FC Barcelona’s star signing for this season, the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. Xavi, who has almost just landed in the United States after his passport problems, could give the first minutes to the ‘9’, who joined his new teammates a few days ago.

What does seem to be a differentiating thing is that both teams arrive with a different pace of competitive level since until today, the culers have already played two pre-season games, starting with a one-goal draw at the Olot field which tasted like little, and then starting the American tour with a thrashing against Inter Miami, to which they endorsed a 0-6 in which was Raphinha’s debut, with a goal.

Instead, the Classic will be the first match played by Real Madrid in the 2022/2023 pre-season. 56 days after winning the Champions League final, Carlo Ancelotti’s men will face their arch-rivals in the opening match of their three-match tour of the United States before playing for their first title of the season, the European Super Cup, on August 10 against Eintracht Frankfurt.

This match will be the second time that Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will play a Clásico in the United States. The first was in 2017 and was played in Miami, where the Blaugrana won 3-2 with goals from Leo Messi, Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Piqué for the Cullers and Marco Asensio and Matteo Kovacic for the Merengues.
