Banfora’s USCO smashes the competition

The Burkinabe Basketball Federation continues its policy of revitalizing the ball to the basket in Burkina Faso. After the organization of the championships of the small categories, it held those of the regions from July 14 to 16, 2022.

The president of the Burkinabe Basketball Federation (FEBBA) Souleymane Yaméogo kept his promises. Organize a championship for the benefit of teams from different regions. For this first edition, the FEBBA’s choice fell on Koudougou. 18 teams from the Center West, East, Center East, Sahel, Boucle du Mouhoun, North, Cascades and South West regions took part in this trial run.

This competition concerned the minimal and the cadets in girls as in boys. The Comoé Sports Union (USCO) of Banfora showed the vitality of basketball in the town. She won three of the four finals on the program.

Among the girls, the USCO wins against the ASTBC on the mark of 24 points against four. Among the boys, it is still the USCO which wins against this same team (48-04). In junior girls, there was only one. That of the USCO. She was therefore declared champion.

The USCO junior girls will defend their title next year.
The best players rewarded

Among the junior boys, AS Phoenix from Ouahigouya took first place by dominating the four teams, AS Mouk from Koudougou in the final (54-09), Black Arrows from Gaoua and Liptako basketball club from Dori.

The best basketball players of the season received awards. Malika Kani Ganou (USCO) is the best among the girls while Idrissa Mohamed Koné (USCO) wins among the boys. Among the girl cadets, Martia Ouédraogo (USCO) leaves with the trophy while Sié Stéphane Traoré (AS Phoenix de Ouahigouya) is the winner in the boy cadet category.

Trays renovated by the federation

In addition to taking charge of the participating teams, the Burkinabè basketball federation also had to repair the platforms of the Lycée Moukassa and the University Norbert Zongo where the competitions were held. Souleymane Yaméogo appealed to the heads of these establishments to ensure that these spaces are well maintained.

« During this championship, we attended, ladies and gentlemen, very good matches and the technicians of the federation even admitted to me that certain teams present here could beat teams from Ouaga or Bobo. We have talent everywhere in Burkina.
