ATP Gstaad: Ritschard offers Sousa for his first victory in an ATP tournament – rts.ch

Little sensation in the 1st round of the Gstaad tournament. Zurich’s Alexander Ritschard (ATP 190) dominated João Sousa (ATP 58), finalist in Geneva and seeded No. 8, 6-3 6-3 in just over an hour and a half of play.

Ritschard (28), who had benefited from a wildcard to enter the main draw in Gstaad, quite clearly dominated the proceedings against the 33-year-old Portuguese veteran, who was seeded No. ‘Bernese Oberland.

The Zurich native simply celebrated his first success on the ATP circuit. In the first set, he managed the decisive break at 4-3.

five in a row

Badly embarked on the 2nd set after losing his service for the only time in the match, he then chained 5 games to bring the score from 1-3 to 6-3. Ritschard thus avoided a 3rd set which could have been difficult due to the great heat.

In the next round, the Swiss player will face a Spaniard. It will be Jaume Munar (ATP 63) or Bernabe Zapata Miralles (ATP 81).
