Arthes. Luciano, 88, celebrates his departure from judo

The committee awarded a grant of €444 to the club, which is one of the 3 best clubs represented in the various competitions. The club has 25 members including 4 adults. Luciano Domenichelli the teacher since 2015 stopped giving lessons just before the covid due to his very advanced age, 86 years old at the time. Maxime Benoît became the new teacher and since then the club has made an alliance with the clubs of Lescure and Blaye, a northern Albigensian judo alliance of which Maxime is also the teacher. This makes it possible to group lessons, in particular for 4-year-olds, fifteen young people and 30 adults. “We are a small club, but well represented in competitions. We participated in the 3 departmental competitions for mini chicks 6-7 years old and 8-9 years old as well as the Rabastens and Lescure tournament and the Christmas tournaments, in all 5 competitions.” says Maxim. Thanks to the association of the 3 clubs, 3-day courses are offered during school holidays and members of the Arthés club are present. Mayor Jean Marc Farré added: “The associations are the lifeblood because they bring the village to life.” The club thanked Luciano for his investment, the party of his departure having been postponed following the covid. He received a superb Italian coffee maker. “I am 88 years old, it was time to give way to young people, I spent good years at the Arthés club with very promising young people.” Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 13.
