Archery: two team podiums at the European Youth Cup

The final tally of the Azzurri at the first stage of the European Youth Cup, staged this week in Bucharest (Romania), is 9 podiums; with the contribution of the Piedmontese archers: Kaede Marsili wins the Under18 curved team silver, Marco Tosco and Fabrizio Aloisi the Under18 compound team bronze.

The Under18 women’s curved team (Allieve), made up of Kaede Marsili (Arcieri Varian), Giada Fiorot and Elena Branca, only yields in the final against France 2-6, after having obtained the second position in qualifying and having beaten in order: Latvia in the quarterfinals (5-1) and Holland in the semifinals (6-2).
In the individual Marsili had closed the qualification in eighth position with 633 points, thus directly accessing the round of 32 against the Dutch Van der Ven beaten at the play-off arrow (9-8); the week was then stopped by the Polish Stoma 0-6 in the following round.
Together with Francesco Poerio PItera also took part in the mixed team race: after the success in the round of 16 against Azerbaijan for 5-3, the blue duo was stopped at the hands of Poland 1-5 in the quarterfinals.

The Under18 men’s compound teams (Allievi) in the competition were only four; the trio made up of Fabrizio Aloisi (Arcieri Iuvenilia), Lorenzo Gubbini and Marco Tosco (Arcieri Alpignano), who had closed the qualification with the second best score, yields in the semifinals to Israel (227-233), but redeems himself in the final against the hosts of Romania for 221-211 thus conquering the bronze.
In the individual, Aloisi had finished the 72 qualifying arrows in fourth position (697 points), while Tosco in eighteenth (653 points).
While Tosco surrenders in the first round 136-140 against the Romanian Salca, Aloisi’s path is much longer and ends just off the podium, defeated in the final 136-145 by the English Saunderson.

Last Piedmontese in the race Aiko Rolando (Fiamme Oro / Arcieri Iuvenilia) in the Under21 female recurve (Junior), who closed the qualification in eighteenth position (592 points). The Turin is already beaten in the first clash by the Dutch Tempelman 0-6.

Next youth event, the European Championship, also valid as the second stage of the 2022 European Cup, to be held in Lilleshall (Great Britain) from 15 to 20 August.
