After Jordan Poole, a new Warriors nugget ready to explode?

Golden State knows how to develop young talents perfectly, like Jordan Poole in 2021-22. However, perhaps the Californians are already holding his successor… A sophomore has indeed just broken everything at the start of the Summer League, just to announce the color.

If the Warriors have returned to the throne of the league this season, it is also thanks to the hatching of Jordan Poole. The young fullback thus delivered a magnificent exercise, turning over 18 points and 4 assists in the regular campaign before releasing some great performances in the post-season. Whether as a starter during Klay Thompson’s absence, or as the sixth man after the All-Star returned, the 22-year-old has done a tremendous job.

However, the finances of the Dubs mean that despite their desire to extend it at exorbitant prices, it may be impossible and thata departure is now possible. However, if this were to actually happen, then Steve Kerr and his staff could well try to repeat the experience with another youngster from the squad. Drafted last year, Moses Moody indeed dropped a big card at the start of the Summer League, with 34 points against the Knicks:

Moses Moody, successor to Jordan Poole at the Warriors?

The young back from Arkansas was simply untenable on this meeting, finishing with an 8/13 shooting as well as a splendid 15/17 on free throws. An aggressiveness towards the circle which is pleasing, especially since he is also a very promising shooter (36% this year). For his NBA debut, the No. 4 was used sparingly by Californians, averaging 12 minutes in 52 regular season games. The numbers even dropped to 8 minutes during the playoffs.

The nugget therefore did not have the opportunity to express himself much in 2021-22, but this also allowed him to work a lot behind the scenes, with in particular Draymond Green as a mentor according to his own words. During an interview conducted by The Athletic, the guard has in any case announced the color for the coming months. He wants to make a real place for himself in the Golden State rotation next year, and above all to deserve it thanks to his hard work:

I want to try to win another title. Try to make myself useful. Get to the point where if I get into the game, it’s not because someone likes me. It’s not to do me a favor. I want to be needed. I want you to think ‘I need Moses on the court’. It’s up to me to make people think that way. I have to make it the main storyline.

Incubated during his rookie season, chances are Moses Moody will get more playing time in 2022-23. The Dubs are hoping to witness his blossoming, with the boy showing huge potential in the future.
