22nd in the medal table, behind Mayer the void on the French side

The French team finished far from the best nations in the world on these Worlds of Eugene 2022. The only medal was obtained by Kevin Mayer this Sunday, during the last day.

The French team had a hard time at these 2022 World Championships. It took until the last day in Eugene to see a tricolor athlete win a medal. And more precisely a decathlete. After two days and ten events, Kevin Mayer wins the title and offers the only medal to the French team.

The Blues therefore finish at the 22nd step of the medal table with a gold charm. European level, it is Poland which achieves the best performance with an eighth place (4 medals: 1 in gold, 3 in silver). Germany and Italy finish 19th with two medals each.

In London in 2017, France had achieved a great performance by finishing 4th in the Worlds with three titles and two bronze medals. In Doha in 2019, the Blues had already come through by taking 25th place, with a silver and a bronze medal. No title had been gleaned.
