LOS ANGELES, July 25 (Xinhua) — Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting incident Sunday afternoon in a Los Angeles park, authorities said.
At around 3:45 p.m. local time (10:45 p.m. GMT), officers received multiple calls about a shooting near the Peck Park baseball field, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported.
He reported multiple casualties, seven of whom were transported to local hospitals, before confirming that two people died.
Witnesses said the shooting took place when hundreds of people were gathered for a car show and other activities around the park. The attack caused panic among residents who immediately fled the scene, ABC reported KABC-TV.
Police said firearms were found at the scene, adding they do not know at this stage the number of suspects involved in the incident. The LAPD has declared a citywide tactical alert. End
