2. Bundesliga: Bielefeld and Nuremberg lose

Arminia Bielefeld made a false start to the second division season 63 days after being relegated from the Bundesliga. The team of the new coach Uli Forte lost 1: 2 (0: 1) at SV Sandhausen and suffered a first setback on their mission to get promoted again.

SVS new signing David Kinsombi (11th/63rd) scored twice in front of 4000 spectators, the newly formed Arminia only came to equalize temporarily through Masaya Okugawa (59th). To make matters worse, debutant Forte had to go to the stands after a red card (45′), and a little later defender Silvan Sidler saw a yellow card (47′).

Red for the coach

It was Arminia who initially dictated. New signing Sidler with a header and Florian Krüger with a crossbar shot had a double chance in mind to take the lead (10th), before Kinsombi struck in return. The striker brought in from Hamburger SV scored through the legs of DSC goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino.

Shortly before the break, Forte saw red. The coach had thrown the ball back onto the field when Sandhausen was about to speed up the game with a throw-in with another ball. After yellow-red against Sidler, Arminia fought back and equalized through Okugawa, but Sandhausen responded immediately.

St. Pauli beats Nuremberg

Meanwhile, FC St. Pauli made an exclamation mark and won 3-2 (3-0) against 1. FC Nürnberg in the top game of the day. Hamburg laid the foundation for this victory within just 15 minutes in the first half.

Both teams started the season with promotion ambitions, but the hosts got off to a much better start and were already clearly leading at half-time.

28,582 spectators in the almost sold-out Millerntor Stadium saw a balanced early phase. After a free kick by captain Lear Paqarada, Jackson Irvine headed the lead for St. Pauli (24′), Paqarada’s penalty kick (37′) and only 133 seconds later Lukas Daschner (39′) increased the lead at the break.

Nuremberg then came fresher out of the cabin and promptly to 1:3. Kwadwo Duah, offensive newcomer from FC St. Gallen, scored in his second division debut shortly after the break (47th). Enrico Valentini (90+2) managed to score the connection goal for the Franks. But it wasn’t enough for Nuremberg to do more.

Fürth only gets one point

The SpVgg Greuther Fürth missed the longed-for opening victory. The enthusiastic and determined Franconians had to be content with a 2:2 (0:1) against Holstein Kiel on Saturday. In front of 8756 spectators, Fürth was able to take a lot of momentum for the upcoming tasks.

Timo Becker converted the guests’ first real chance to score with a volley in the 29th minute. After a slalom shot through captain Branimir Hrgota’s penalty area, Julian Green (48′) crashed into the net to equalize. Timothy Tillman (76th) increased for the team of the new Swiss coach Marc Schneider. After a foul by Simon Asta on Oscar Pichler, Alexander Mühling (80th) was successful from the point for Kiel.

Schneider ushered in the new era in Fürth with just two summer additions to the starting XI: central defender Oussama Haddadi and attacker Armindo Sieb started for the Franconians, who set the tone in the first 30 minutes. But they only had chances from the edge of the penalty area. An alarm situation in his own penalty area led to a deficit: After a cross from Fabian Reese, Becker punished the unsorted defense of the home side.

The Fürthers stayed on the trigger even after the change. Again and again they combined in the sixteen of the Kieler. The massive joker Ragnar Ache (73rd) only missed the lead, Tillman did better from around 15 meters. The compensation was a mood dampener for the Fürth. Shortly before the end, Ache missed the chance to make it 3:2 with a shot at the post and Hrgota free in front of keeper Thomas Dähne.

Regensburg meets after 17 seconds

A lightning goal by Joshua Mees after 17.4 seconds of play paved the way for Jahn Regensburg’s 2-0 (1-0) win over Darmstadt 98. Prince Osei Owusu played the ball to the right winger position, and Mees converted Nicklas Shipnoski’s cross then detached. Andreas Albers (67th) finally set the course for victory with the 2-0 win.

Darmstadt’s Patric Pfeiffer saw the yellow-red card in the 37th minute for repeated foul play. Another slap in the face for the guests.

The “lilies” had trouble recovering from the rapid deficit. In the period that followed, the hosts kept the pressure on, and the Hessians only had their first chance in the game after almost half an hour.

Marvin Mehlem was shot in the penalty area by Steve Breitkreuz, the Darmstadt player continued to dribble in the direction of the goal. But Breitkreuz pressed him so that Mehlem missed the goal (29′).

Above all, the lilies lacked dangerousness on the offensive. Jahn, meanwhile, repeatedly set needle pricks with successful ball relays and repeatedly caused danger in the Darmstadt penalty area.
