MONTREAL, July 10, 2022 – We were treated to a completely junior baseball day across the province, with no less than 12 games being presented, or 6 doubleheaders. Here is a comprehensive recap of that baseball day.

The Cardinals get two wins in front of their fans

FOR GLASS | After having had a good day on Saturday, the Lasalle Cardinals hosted the Rocket South Shore of Coaticook on Sunday for a doubleheader at the Éloi-Viau stadium. And the Cards obtained two victories by very different scores, 18 to 9 in the first game, and 4 to 3 in the second. Coaticook, which started the season on a high note, finds itself below the .500 mark with a 15th and 16th loss in 30 games.

MATCH 1 – Victory of Lasalle 18 to 9

The highlight: 15 runs scored by the Cardinals between the third and sixth innings of the game and an impressive total of 35 hits by both teams in the game, 19 for Lasalle and 16 for Coaticook. Besides, the Rocket still scored eight runs in the fifth inning to try to come back late in the game.

Key Performance: Ryan Bawart (on the picture) hit his third homer of the season and finished the game with four hits, five runs scored and five RBIs, being in all the battles in this game for Lasalle! Jonathan Joncas-Briand hit a grand slam for his first career home run in the LBJÉQ in the third inning. In a loss, Pierre-Olivier Perreault finished with three hits and two RBIs.

MATCH 2 – Victory of Lasalle 4 to 3

The highlight: A big fifth inning for the Cardinals, who rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the bottom of the fifth by scoring three runs, then scoring the deciding run in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was Louka Leduc, with a double that sent Raphaël Delisle home, who produced the run in question in the sixth.

Two Diamond wins on Sunday, eight in a row

CHARLESBURG | The Diamonds of Quebec signed two victories against the Ducs de Longueuil, on Sunday, by the count of 1 to 0 and 8 to 3 in a double program disputed at Henri-Casault Park exceptionally. These two victories are added to the streak of six that the Diamonds had before the start of the game, which therefore makes it eight in a row for the troop of Karl Gélinas.
