Andrea Petkovic was the only German tennis player to reach the round of 16 at the lawn tournament in Berlin.
The 34-year-old from Darmstadt won her first round game against the former Wimbledon champion Garbiñe Muguruza from Spain with 7: 6 (10: 8), 6: 4. After a hard-fought first set, Petkovic made an early break in the second round and remained confident on his own serve.

The former Wimbledon finalist from Berlin won alongside Bianca Andreescu from Canada 7:5, 6:4 against the Chinese duo Xu Yifan/Yang Zhaoxuan. Lisicki recently celebrated her comeback after a year and a half injury break.
