Walter Benítez leaves Nice: the Argentine goalkeeper changes teams and League

After six years in Nice, the outstanding Argentine goalkeeper will be left with the pass in his possession and will continue his career at PSV.

After six seasons and very good performances that led him to be one of the best goalkeepers in French football, Walter Benítez will no longer belong to Nice as reported by European media.


Benítez will end his contract with Nice on June 30, he will keep the pass in his possession and will leave Ligue 1 to play for PSV in the Netherlands.

The Argentine goalkeeper, 29 years old, began his career in Quilmes and from the Brewer he arrived in Nice in 2016, where he remained until now.

Walter Benítez, who was born in San Martín, province of Chaco, last year he got french citizenship and opened the possibility of playing for the French team.

“I don’t know why I was never called up to the Argentina National Team, sometimes we wonder what else we can do,” Benítez declared at the time and referred to the chance to play for France when he was waiting for citizenship.

“I would gladly wear the France shirt but it is difficult, there is (Hugo) Lloris and very good goalkeepers”, Benítez declared before the French media.
